Room Selection Process for Returning On-Campus Residents and Current Marymount Students Applying for On-Campus Housing
Whether you’re a returning on-campus resident or a current Marymount student applying for on-campus housing for the first time, the Housing Lottery & Room Selection Process provides a fair and organized way to select your room and roommate(s) for the upcoming academic year. Follow these steps to secure your housing:
1. Complete the Housing Application
- All students must log into the StarRez housing portal and complete the Housing License and Meal Plan Agreement (HLMPA) form. This application is necessary to participate in room selection, and it must be submitted by the deadline (typically early April).
- New applicants and returning students should ensure that all required fields are accurate and complete.
2. Pay the Housing Deposit
- A $200 non-refundable housing deposit is required to confirm your participation in the room selection process. The deposit deadline aligns with the application deadline.
- Be sure to communicate with any potential roommates to confirm that they have also paid their deposit to be eligible to select a room together.
3. Receive a Lottery Time Slot
- All applicants are assigned a time slot for room selection through a computer-generated lottery process. Time slots are prioritized by class year:
- Priority: LLC members, rising seniors, and those who currently live on campus
- Next: Rising juniors, followed by sophomores
- New Applicants: Current students who are applying to live on campus for the first time will receive time slots after returning residents
4. Select Roommate Options (Optional)
- If you wish to live with specific roommates, create a Roommate Group in StarRez. The group creator should invite others to join, and each roommate must accept the invitation.
- Roommate groups should be able to fill the room’s capacity (e.g., a double room requires two group members). Incomplete groups will be matched with other applicants by the Office of Student Living.
5. Choose a Room During Your Time Slot
- During your assigned time, log into StarRez to select a room from available options. Room selection is based on availability, with popular room types potentially limited by the time later slots are reached.
- If you are part of a Living Learning Community (LLC), only LLC members are eligible to select rooms on designated LLC floors.
6. Important Considerations
- Financial Holds: Students with a Bursar Hold cannot participate in room selection until the hold is cleared.
- Room Assignment Finalization: Once you’re assigned to a room, you cannot participate in further selection rounds. If you wish to cancel or change your room, you may be placed on a waitlist for reassignment later.
7. Missed the Lottery?
- Students who miss the lottery deadlines or decide to apply for on-campus housing later must submit a separate application on StarRez. These students will be assigned housing based on remaining availability.
