Move-In Day
Date: Tuesday, August 20
Who: All incoming first-year students
Move-In Day is a significant milestone, marking the beginning of your college experience. Our aim is to make this process efficient and stress-free for you and your family.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly staff and volunteers, who will assist you with unloading your belongings and finding your new home on campus. Detailed information regarding your specific move-in time and location will be provided via email. Please ensure you have all necessary documents ready to expedite the check-in process.
Tips for a Successful Move-In Day:
- Arrive Early: Aim to arrive at your designated time to avoid congestion and delays.
- Be Prepared: Have all your essential items packed and easily accessible. Use the checklists provided by the university to ensure you don’t forget anything important.
- Stay Hydrated: Moving can be physically demanding, especially in the summer heat. Drink plenty of water and take breaks as needed.
- Ask for Help: Our staff and volunteers are here to assist you. Don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it.
First-Year Convocation
Following Move-In Day, all new students are required to attend the First-Year Convocation, a cherished tradition at Marymount University symbolizing the official start of your academic journey.
Date: Tuesday, August 20
Time: 4:00 pm
During the Convocation, the president of the university, Dr. Irma Becerra, will deliver a welcoming address to all new students. This ceremony is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the beginning of your journey at Marymount.
What You Need to Know:
- Dress Appropriately: This is a formal event, so please dress in business casual attire.
- Be On Time: Arrive at the venue early to find your seat and settle in before the ceremony begins.
- Engage and Connect: Use this opportunity to meet your fellow classmates and begin building connections that will last throughout your time at Marymount.

There, you will find information about your placement as well as contact details for your roommate. We encourage you to initiate communication with your new roommate and discuss your respective expectations and desires for your shared living space. This may include coordinating items that both of you plan to bring along.
