Daniella Alexander – Military and Freshman Admission Coordinator & School Certifying Official

My name is Daniella Alexander, and I graduated from Marymount University in 2021 with a degree in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Communication (I was also just one credit away from a Spanish minor).

As a first-generation Latina student that felt ill-prepared for the college process, I remember being worried that I wouldn’t be able to find the “right fit”. I was so lucky that I found the diversity, comfort, and home that I was looking for at Marymount. I found a place that valued, challenged, and uplifted me both personally and professionally. Because I fell in love with MU, I did what I could to help students love it as much as I did (and still do), which led me to be incredibly involved on campus, which just cemented my appreciation for Marymount.

Outside of Marymount, I am a huge Green Bay Packer fan (and don’t tolerate any slanderous words about my boys), a (failing) plant mom, sleep enthusiast, and dog mom to the cutest and sassiest Chihuahua, Chiquis.

Best College Search Process Tip

Make lists! You can never start the college search too early, so having a general idea of what you want, things you won’t settle for, etc. will help you narrow down your choices when the time comes. That isn’t to say that you have to know everything that you’re looking for – asking questions will give you a better idea of what that institution is like. Trust me, there is no question that is “dumb” or not important.

For students that are using VA benefits: Knowing how your benefits work is going to set you up for success. Calling the VA and getting in contact with a school’s SCO will allow you to successfully navigate the process as a beneficiary. Remember to advocate for yourself –  we can’t help unless you tell us that you need help!
