Black Lives Matter

The Department of Literature and Languages at Marymount University stands with our community of color for the principles of justice and equality that must underscore our goals as a university. Even more, these principles must inform and guide our shared humanity as a people. We stand with those who have suffered in ways large and small from the white supremacy that has shaped our country. Guided by the mission of our university founders, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, we “place ourselves and our resources at the service of those who are most in need of justice.” We stand committed to our student leaders in advocacy.

Faculty in the Department of Literature and Languages commit to combat racism through our teaching by incorporating diverse voices and stories into our syllabi, drawing on pedagogies of change, and being present for dialogue, fellowship, and discussion.
