New Alumni Board established to engage with former Saints

 

In an effort to more fully encourage alumni engagement in the life of the institution, Marymount University recently established a newly formed Alumni Board with 10 inaugural members. Their respective terms officially began on July 1 and included a summer orientation meeting.

The Alumni Board will serve as a liaison for the University by engaging and connecting the alumni body for the purpose of supporting Marymount’s mission and values, establishing mutually beneficial relations between the University and its alumni, maintaining a spirit of communication, fellowship and service, and enhancing philanthropic resources beneficial to the University’s sustainability and growth.

Damon Porter ’94, Chair

Alumni Board member Damon Porter

Porter earned a B.A. in Communication from Marymount and a J.D. from the Catholic University of America. He is the Vice President of Federal Affairs for McKesson and currently resides in Washington, D.C.

Abigail Wescott ’18, Vice Chair

Alumni Board member Abigail Wescott

Wescott earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Marymount and a MBA from DeSales University. She is the Chief Operating Officer for Appalachian School of Law and currently resides in southwestern Virginia.

Yinka Adepoju ’08

Alumni Board member Yinka Adepoju

Adepoju earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Marymount and also holds a bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Maryland and a master’s in Physical Therapy. He is the Chief Executive Officer for Baltimore Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and currently resides in Baltimore, Md.

Alyssa Batchelor ’15

Alyssa Batchelor

Batchelor earned a B.A. in Politics from Marymount and a M.S. in Political Science from Southern New Hampshire University. She is the Director of Political Research for The Mellman Group and currently resides in Herndon, Va.

Mary Smith Carson ’90

Mary Smith Carson

Smith Carson earned a MBA from Marymount and also holds a B.A. in Drama and Dance from the University of Mary Washington (UMW). She was Director of Alumni Affairs at UMW, former President of Roger Carson Enterprises and a national spokesperson for the natural gas industry, working with gas and electric companies and manufacturers. She currently resides in Vienna, Va.

Maureen Cyron ’66

Maureen Cyron

Cyron earned an associate’s degree in Arts and Sciences from Marymount, as well as degrees from American University and the University of Virginia, including a master’s in Education. She is the President of Excursionaire Tours and currently resides in Burke, Va.

Valerie Hunter ’03

Valerie Hunter

Hunter earned a M.A. in Human Resources Management from Marymount and also holds a B.A. in Economics from Vassar College. She is the Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for BAE Systems and currently resides in Fairfax, Va.

Jessica Turgon ’97

Jessica Turgon

Turgon earned a B.A. in Political Science from Marymount and a MBA from the George Washington University. She is a Partner at ECG Management Consultants, a health care consulting firm, and currently resides in McLean, Va.

Reed Van Orsdel ’08, Member-at-Large, Athletics

Reed Van Orsdel

Van Orsdel earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Marymount. He is currently the Vice President of Alliant Insurance Services and resides in Laytonsville, Md.

Annalena Winer ’94, Member-at-Large, Annual Fund

Annalena Winer

Winer earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Marymount, and is the Director of Consulting Services for CGI Federal. She currently resides in Arlington, Va.
