Scholars Programs

Marymount University provides unique opportunities for “scholars” students who are seeking challenging academic experiences and civic engagement in two flagship programs: Our Honors Program and our Spirit of Service Program. New students must apply to and be admitted to the university before applying to our signature programs.

Students should apply to the scholars programs online. Incoming students must be admitted to Marymount to be eligible for admission to the scholars programs.

The Scholars Program application for Fall 2026 is now closed. If you remain strongly interested in one of our scholar programs, please contact the Admissions Office at admissions@marymount.edu for more information about potential next steps.

*The deadline to submit a Scholars Program application is April 1, 2026. Space in each program is limited, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis with priority given to those received early. Applications submitted closer to the deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis and admission to any scholar program is not guaranteed.*

Honors Program

Answer

The Honors Program is comprised of a diverse community of students seeking academic challenges and opportunities to enhance their college experience. All academic schools are represented within the program, and students from all majors are encouraged to apply to the program. The Honors Program encourages students to become independent, critical thinkers. It challenges them intellectually and promotes academic excellence on campus.

The Honors Program is open to a select group of incoming first-year and current students, who are chosen by the Honors Program Committee. Admission to the program is very competitive. Applicants should have at least a 3.50 unweighted high school GPA.

Honors Program applicants must submit one essay response and one academic writing sample from previous coursework. Additionally, all Honors Program applicants must submit two letters of recommendation written by teachers and others qualified to comment on academic performance.

Admission to the university and meeting the minimum Honors Program requirements, do not guarantee admission to the Honors Program.
