Erik Alston – Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions

Erik Alston – Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions

I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, where my mom instilled in me the importance of education from an early age. I graduated from Cass Technical High School and then became a first-generation college student at Tennessee State University. There, I majored in Communications, and as a work-study student, I discovered my passion for higher education and decided to pursue it as a career.

After graduating, I began working at my alma mater in the Office of Admissions, which helped deepen my commitment to supporting students in their educational journeys. Now, I’m excited to bring that experience to my current role at Marymount University, where I focus on making the transition for transfer students as smooth as possible and helping them feel a sense of belonging.

Outside of work, I love to travel and explore new cuisines. Every trip is an opportunity to learn and connect with different cultures, which keeps me inspired both personally and professionally.
