Graduate Assistant – Athletic Coaching
Graduate Assistant – Athletic Coaches work with our student athletes in a dual role of athletic coach and academic coach. We emphasize that we have STUDENT-athletes at Marymount and our GA-Athletic Coaches are a critical component to ensuring that the ACADEMIC part of college is not overtaken by the ATHLETIC part of college.
GTA – Athletic Coach:
- assist the Head Coach in building and managing a dynamic team program where players demonstrate exceptional skills while fully committed to the mission and goals of the program while adhering to NCAA rules and regulations;
- provide positive leadership for student-athletes by example;
- assist in recruiting, scouting, and practice planning;
- perform game day duties as assigned;
- assist with organizational planning (travel, community service, study hall).

Graduate Student Worker (hourly)
- Athletic Communications – OPEN
EXCEPTIONS: Because of the nature of the responsibilities, there are some GTA-Athletic Coaching positions that may require students to be available during typical ‘student break’ periods or on weekends or evenings. The work schedule should be clearly outlined and discussed with the student to assure they can meet those time commitments.
Individual job descriptions will have additional duties and responsibilities that are specific to the position.
All GTA students must attend GTA Training prior to the beginning of their position. Classroom/Lab based GTAs may teach a course independently once they have completed their GTA Training and served as a GTA for one semester, unless prior approval is obtained by their supervising faculty member. GTA – Academic Coaches will work directly with students in a one-on-one or small group situation.
