Student Health Services (SHS) provides diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries to MU students. We provide many of the routine services offered at primary healthcare offices including laboratory studies, immunizations, prescriptions, allergy injections, specialist and radiology referrals.
Healthcare services are available to all students who are actively enrolled in classes. Our staff of nurses and nurse practitioners are available daily for healthcare services by appointment only. Please call us at 703-284-1610 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment. Additionally, a physician and a psychiatric nurse practitioner are available by appointment weekly. There is no charge to be seen by one of our providers.
As a reminder the COVID-19 vaccine and booster has been mandated by the university. All students, staff, and faculty members must be fully vaccinated (including the booster) or have an approved exemption.
Members of the university community who are 18 years and older and at increased risk of exposure and transmission due to living or working in an institutional setting (on-campus) can now receive the booster. It has been approved to mix and match vaccines (e.g. if you received Moderna as your original vaccine you can get the Pfizer booster). Individuals should evaluate the risks and benefits and related information before receiving a booster shot. Here are guidelines related to each vaccine:
- Pfizer: booster may be administered at least 5 months after completion of the primary series.
- Moderna: booster may be administered at least 5 months after completion of the primary series.
- Janssen (Johnson & Johnson): booster may be administered at least 2 months after completion of the single dose.
Please visit the Virginia Health Department website to find out where you can get the COVID-19 vaccine and booster. If you are not located in the state of Virginia, you can simply find out where you can get the Covid-19 vaccine by looking on your states health departments website.
