Preparing Middle and High School Students for Academic Achievement    

High school and middle school teachers play an important role in guiding and mentoring students during a formative time in their lives. With a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Marymount University, you’ll be equipped with the tools and resources to help those students learn and thrive.

  • Licensure to take you from B.A. to M.Ed.

Our program is designed for those who have earned a bachelor’s degree and seek licensure to teach biology, chemistry, earth science, English, history and social science, mathematics, or physics.

  • Student-teach at home or around the globe

Marymount offers 14-week student-teaching internships through our partners in the greater Washington, D.C., area and dynamic, immersive study abroad programs in countries like Colombia, Panama, New Zealand, and Uganda. Students enrolled in our Secondary Education program can also apply for international courses offered by other learning institutions through the Center for Global Engagement. Secondary Education teaching degree candidates may participate in faculty-sponsored or independent research. Graduates have presented their findings at conferences and symposiums around the globe.

  • A master’s degree on your schedule

Schedule courses when it’s right for you. Classes are taught in the afternoons and evenings, hybrid and online. You can enroll part time or full time and earn your Secondary Education degree in as little as one year.
