Pre-Award costs
The costs incurred while preparing an application for external funding, including budget preparation is recovered through the Marymount University negotiated indirect cost rate agreement. These costs cannot be retroactively charged to the grant once the award is made.
For federal projects where the award funding is delayed, Marymount has the option to incur pre-award costs up to 90 calendar days prior to award funding. However, consult with Office of Sponsored Programs before incurring such costs as these must be approved by the Dean And Vice President for Research. In the event an award is not made to Marymount, the University will be responsible for paying these incurred costs. If a project requires that pre-award costs be incurred more than 90 days prior to the award being made, the award sponsor must approve Marymount to incur and charge these costs to the grant award.
