Saints win first-ever Jets ECAC Women's Flag Football Championship

Marymount Women’s Flag Football picked up its second championship of the season on Sunday, as the team won the inaugural Jets ECAC Women’s Flag Football Championship, hosted at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Facility.

The championship win came over Franciscan, 37-26, after the Saints won the semifinal round over familiar foe Eastern, 13-12.

Jesenia Velez led the Saints to the win, notching two receiving touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns and a pair of passing touchdowns in the win. She collected 372 total yards on the day.

Cara Vollmer stood as a force on offense as well for Marymount, picking up 256 passing yards with a pair of touchdowns. 

The Saints finished 10-2 in ECAC play to earn the No. 2 seed, receiving a bid straight into the semifinal action. 

This season marked another historic campaign for the Marymount Flag Football program. Going 23-3 overall on the season, the Saints went 14-2 in the Atlantic East, their primary conference. They went on to win their third-straight championship in the Atlantic East Conference before also earning the historic first-ever “Betty” Trophy from the Jets ECAC.
