Marymount partners with Curative to provide no-cost COVID-19 testing

For the second consecutive year, Marymount University is providing both its own community members and the general public with access to COVID-19 tests on campus at no out-of-pocket cost, this time through a partnership with public health service leader Curative.

As the DMV region and the nation as a whole are mired in a heavy surge of cases from the rapid-spreading Omicron variant of COVID-19, Marymount will establish a Curative kiosk located in the side parking lot next to Reinsch Library at the University’s 26th Street entrance in Arlington. Starting on Monday, January 10, testing will be open to everyone by appointment – including Marymount students, staff, faculty and the surrounding community. No age restrictions will be in place, and Arlington residency is not required to receive a test. Doctor referrals are also not required.

This effort is one of many reflecting Marymount’s continued commitment to the greater community and the University’s core value of service to others.

“The sky-high demand for COVID-19 tests during the holiday season due to the Omicron variant has resulted in hour-long wait times at clinics near and far, as well as diminished inventory,” said Barry Harte, Vice President for Finance & Operations and Treasurer at Marymount University. “But our important partnership with Curative will deliver critical access to COVID-19 tests not just for our community members on Marymount’s campus, but the surrounding Arlington area and even beyond.”

“Curative is proud to be partnering with Marymount University and be a crucial resource for the community during this pandemic,” said Fred Turner, CEO and co-founder of Curative. “Curative’s goal is to make testing more accessible with our easy testing kiosk. We offer a simple testing option with results delivered directly 1-2 days upon receipt at our labs and always at no out-of-pocket cost to patients.”

Testing at the mobile kiosk site will continue as long as demand exists at the location, which will offer appointments on a Monday through Friday schedule between 8 am and 4 pm. Participants will receive PCR tests with results made available to them in approximately 48 hours upon receipt at Curative’s labs.

Appointments can be made via the Curative website by clicking on ‘Find a Site Near You’ and searching for the Marymount University location. There is no out-of-pocket cost for the test and it is available for both insured and uninsured participants, but insurance information from insured participants is required.

This partnership is an addition to the University’s extensive COVID-19 protocols that include temporary virtual learning for the first two weeks of the Spring 2022 semester, a required negative test from all students and employees prior to returning to campus this month, a required COVID-19 booster shot for all students and employees and an ongoing indoor mask requirement.
