Sponsored Students

International students who are sponsored by an embassy, ministry, cultural mission, or government, regardless of their visa type (may include A-1, F-1, etc.), require various documents in order to request or maintain their scholarship.

Submit your request for documents before the end of the semester so that you can obtain a Financial Guarantee from your sponsor and register for classes in a timely manner.

To request any of the documents listed below, follow the instructions on the Registrar’s webpage. Examples of documents that sponsored students may need to request from the Registrar:

  • Tutoring Letter
  • Conference Letter
  • Expected Graduation Date Letter
  • Enrollment Verification
  • Schedule Print-Out
  • Degree Completion Letter

SACM Sponsored Students

I-20 issuance or program extension

SACM sponsored students must submit an I-20 request via the ISSS portal following the same process as other international students seeking to obtain F-1 status. The process includes uploading a completed and signed Declaration of Finances form and uploading evidence of ability to meet Marymount’s proof of funding requirements (scroll down the proof of funding webpage to find additional information specific to SACM sponsored students).

Now that you are a Marymount University student

SACM sponsored F-1 status students are responsible for registering for classes that meet Marymount academic requirements for their degree program and F-1 enrollment requirements and SACM requirements. All requirements must be met by the student in order to be making good academic progress, maintain F-1 status, and continue to be SACM sponsored.

  • Contact your academic advisor regarding classes to take to meet your academic requirements (if you do not know your advisor’s contact information, undergraduate students email advising@marymount.edu and graduate students email their academic department)
  • Contact ISSS if you need help understanding F-1 enrollment requirements
  • Contact your SACM advisor to find out SACM requirements

Students sponsored by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) have specific requirements, deadlines, and procedures to maintain their funding sponsorship. Please check the chart below to make sure you are meeting SACM’s requirements. For a complete list of requirements, check with your SACM advisor.

First-Year & Graduate Students Transfer Students Current Students
  • First-Year & Graduate students will not need letters in the 1st semester but will require degree letters and transcripts starting their 2nd semester.
  • Remember to request a Marymount I-20 by uploading the required documents to the ISSS portal as soon as possible since your sponsor may ask for a copy.
  • Submit your original transcript from your previous school
  • Contact the Sponsored Students email in order to request your first Degree Certification letter
  • Upload the documents in to your SACM Portal
  • Remember to request a Marymount I-20 by uploading the required documents to the ISSS portal as soon as possible since your sponsor may ask for a copy
  • Register for the semester in the priority dates
  • Request your degree certification letter and transcripts from The Sponsored Students email
  • Upload your documents on the SACM Portal
  • Submit your SACM financial guarantee to sponsored Students and student accounts in order to have financial holds removed at MU
