Our Mission

As part of our RSHM identity, Marymount University strives to bring people of all backgrounds together to create a vibrant learning community. Through support services, student organizations, and community-wide events, we offer an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. International students are an integral part of Marymount University, providing the campus community with an opportunity to learn about the richness of different cultures around the world. Approximately 14% of Marymount University’s student body comes from overseas, representing over 68 countries. Marymount’s International Student & Scholar Services Office (ISSS) is dedicated to providing students with a comfortable and supportive environment that facilitates adjustment and promotes personal growth and academic success. We are committed to supporting you during your time at Marymount and beyond.

The ISSS Office provides the following services for new and continuing students:

  • Immigration advising
  • Acquaintance with on-campus services for students
  • Cultural and educational programs
  • Academic support
  • Handouts on U.S. and Marymount’s Policies and Procedures
  • Confidential cross-cultural counseling

Ashley has over 12 years of experience in International Education and has traveled, studied, and worked abroad in North American, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Ashley’s love for exploring the world was inspired by her Oma (Ductch for grandmother) who left The Netherlands with her Opa (grandfather) after World War II and proceeded to travel across the globe. Ashley started her professional career in International Education by teaching ESL in South Korea, where her love for cultural exchange truly blossomed.

 

Ashley has a Master’s Degree in International Studies focusing on International Education from Concordia University, Irvine, CA; a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Administration from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA; and a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from American University, Washington, DC; and a TESOL certificate.

Ashley’s Global Bucket List:

  • Visit all 7 continents
  • Go on an Alaskan cruise
  • Visit Keukenhof for the tulip festival in Amsterdam
  • Take her family to see the places where she lived abroad

Veronica has worked in Education since 2015 and has worked in International Higher Education since 2019. As a former first-generation college student herself, she is very passionate about student advising and closing the achievement gap. She loves to be at service to students whether it be regarding international F-1 regulations to any general college questions. Before graduating from George Mason University with a B.A. in Global Affairs with a concentration in Latin America, she studied at Northern Virginia Community College and has experience being a transfer student.

 

Veronica is originally from the Northern Virginia area with ethnic roots to El Salvador and Ecuador. She has traveled to various countries in North, Central and South America and across the Caribbean. During her free time, she enjoys crocheting, reading, going for nature walks with her dog, and spending time with family.

Veronica’s Global Bucket List:

  • Practice her French and eat a croissant while visiting the Eiffel Tower
  • Visit all the Disney Parks across the world
  • Dance Sevillans at the Feria de Abril in Seville, Spain
  • Visit every country in Latin America
  • Volunteer at an Animal Sanctuary in South East Asia
  • Visit a Waterfall in Antalya, Turkey
  • Stay in a seaside villa in Mykonos, Greece
