Zuzana C. Wootson is the Deputy Director of Federal Policy at the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, where she oversees the organization’s portfolio on international students and displaced populations, develops strategy, leads coalitions, analyzes legislation and federal rules, supports ongoing and potential litigation, and directs congressional outreach across the political spectrum. She holds a Doctorate in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and brings more than a decade of experience in U.S. and international immigration policy, combining practical expertise, academic training, and lived immigrant experience. Previously, as the first employee at Labor Mobility Partnerships (LaMP), she helped build a global organization focused on safe and effective migration pathways and produced policy analysis used by policymakers in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe. As an educator, she strives to pair theoretical grounding with real-world application, fostering critical thinking and inclusive dialogue. An immigrant with experience living in both the United States and Europe, Zuzana is passionate about mentoring students from diverse backgrounds and bringing policy-focused, practitioner-oriented expertise to the Immigration Law course and the broader Marymount University community.
