At Marymount University, our bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing will introduce you to all facets of the fashion industry—from buying and visual merchandising to product development and international trade. You’ll learn with purpose here on campus in small classes, study alongside faculty experts, pursue internships in fashion, and gain fashion merchandising skills from coursework and on-campus shows. 

Our program—which is the only fashion merchandising school in the Washington, D.C., area and is a member of the National Retail Federation Foundation—will prepare you for careers locally, in New York City, and around the globe.

All Marymount students pursue an internship in fashion or field experience, which helps put your learning into action. Some of our recent students have taken on internships in fashion at Anthropologie, Saks Fifth Avenue, the Washington Opera, and more. Many of our students have also studied abroad, gaining a global perspective on the contemporary fashion industry. 

  • On-campus training opportunities 

Students in our fashion merchandising school can join our Fashion Club to assist with fashion shows, organize guest lectures with professionals, and more. Juniors and seniors will also take part in the production of our annual student fashion show, Portfolio in Motion. These experiences provide you with an unparalleled learning experience—all the while honing and developing your fashion merchandising skills.

What You Will Study in Fashion Merchandising School
