Threat Assessment Team

Marymount University has a standing Threat Assessment Team. The team’s role is to assess whether an individual poses, or may reasonably pose, a threat of violence to self, others, or the Marymount community and to intervene to avert the threat.  The team responds to behaviors exhibited by students, employees, visitors, and non-affiliated persons prior to a critical incident in an attempt to prevent violence so that the Marymount campus remains a safe and secure working and learning environment.

Anyone with information that involves threatening or potentially threatening behavior on campus to self or others are urged to call Campus Safety at 703-284-1600.

Marymount’s Threat Assessment Team includes four permanent members:

  1. Campus Safety Representative: Director of Campus Safety
  2. Health & Wellbeing Representative: Senior Director of Student Wellbeing
  3. Community Standards Representative: Assistant Director for Community Standards & Title IX Coordinator
  4. Academic Affairs Representative: Vice Provost

Other Marymount staff and faculty, as well as outside experts, may be called to participate on the team as circumstances dictate.
