Winners of 15th Annual HR Leadership Awards of Greater Washington Announced

Stephanie Glancey Mount of Eagle Hill Consulting was named Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of the Year for small companies and Barry Melnkovic, vice president of human resources at Amtrak, was named CHRO of the Year for larger companies at the 15th Annual HR Leadership Awards Gala of Greater Washington on June 7 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park.

    This was the first year the CHRO of the Year category was included in the event, which celebrates outstanding service and strategic vision in the areas of organizational leadership, risk taking, innovation, vision, communication, service to the broader community, and commitment to ethical behavior. About 300 people attended the event.

    Kelly Perry of Avian was finalist in the small company category for CHRO. Joyce R. Phillip of University of Maryland Faculty Physicians and John W. Sigmon, AARP, were finalists in the large company category.

    Other winners recognized during the event included:

    • Leadership, Small Company: Jo Weech, director of talent management at Red Alpha; finalist, Stephanie Iwasiw, director of human resources at XLA

    • Leadership, Large Company: Patti Yoder, vice president of human resources, Ernst & Young

    • Dr. J.P. London Award for Integrity: JK Moving Services (Andrea Bunch, Rianna Rome, Jennifer Goodwin, Sarah Cox, Scott O’Con)

    • Strategic Alignment: U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs (Bradley Mitchell, Jennifer McCarthy, Summer Duncan, Sobha Ketterer, Frank Manja Jr.); finalist, Noblis (Allison Mechalske, Amy Rivera, Jay Liwanag, Angela Chiarenza, Angela Giglio, Natalie Swann); finalist, CACI International Inc. (Ira O’Sullivan, Znar Zebari, Windy Schneider)

    • Sister Eymard Gallagher Award for Service to Others: Summit Consulting (Julie Weber, Sean Martin); finalist, Interstate Moving (Margie Malloy); finalist, Micron Technology (Allison Gonzalez, Maria Sidote, Karl Bayrer, April Gowen, Brian Black, Zuzana Steen)

    • Scholarships: Aubrey Beach Martin, Marymount University; Danielle Stewart, Marymount University; Dawn Marie LeBlond, George Mason University; Tammy Lynn Volberding, University of Maryland University College
