Marymount University President Irma Becerra is among 55 influential voices from across the nation featured in ‘Path of Liberty: That Which Unites US,’ a large-scale public art installation now on display in New York City.
The installation opened to the public on May 15 and presents a powerful visual and narrative journey through the history and ideals of the United States, honoring both World War II heroes and contemporary changemakers. It is sponsored by the Soloviev Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting humanitarian, environmental and educational causes worldwide. Set on Manhattan’s East Side from 38th to 41st Street along First Avenue, the six-acre immersive experience celebrates 250 years of American history through striking portraits and personal stories.

The exhibit also highlights her belief in the importance of open dialogue as a cornerstone of democracy and civic engagement.
“I think it’s important that we are respectful of other perspectives, even if we don’t agree with them, to create the spaces where people can express those views.”
Designed by the multispecialty creative studio C&G Partners and directed by filmmaker Daniella Vale, Path of Liberty offers visitors a chance to reflect on the founding principles of the nation—liberty, equality and unity—while grappling with the challenges and complexities of the American story. The installation includes a short film created in collaboration with the Museum of the American Revolution to provide historical context.
“Path of Liberty is a celebration of America’s enduring ideals of liberty, equality and unity,” said Stefan Soloviev, principal of the Soloviev Foundation and chair of the Soloviev Group. “By showcasing personal stories from across the country, we hope to foster a deeper connection between individuals and the principles that unite us all.”
The installation has another special connection to Marymount through Michael Hershman, CEO of the Soloviev Group and member of the University’s Board of Trustees.
“Seeing this vision come to life and witnessing the community engaged in these stories is incredibly meaningful,” Hershman shared. “Path of Liberty is a living conversation where people of all ages and backgrounds can see themselves in the American story and find connection in our shared pursuit of freedom and unity.”
Visitors can experience Path of Liberty free of charge every Thursday through Saturday from 8-11 p.m., with advanced reservations available at pathoflibertynyc.com. Walk-ups are welcome, and the installation is also illuminated Sunday through Wednesday for public viewing from the perimeter.
