Marymount University has jumped more than 20 spots in the rankings for top Regional Universities in the South, according to the 2020 Best Colleges Rankings released Monday by U.S. News & World Report.
The latest assessment slots Marymount at No. 37 on the overall regional list, after a ranking of No. 58 in the 2019 Rankings. Marymount also moved up in two other categories among Regional Universities in the South, now recognized as No. 21 in “Best Colleges for Veterans” (ranked No. 40 last year) and No. 58 in “Best Value Schools” (ranked No. 65 last year).
“Our higher position in a variety of categories demonstrates how our student-centered approach is working on a large scale here at Marymount,” said Dr. Irma Becerra, President of Marymount University. “We are committed to making a high-quality, private education affordable to a wide reach of students. That commitment is key to one of the top goals in our Strategic Plan, which is to double our enrollment over a five-year period.”
Marymount’s diversity continues to shine in the national publication as well, with a No. 2 ranking for “Best Foreign Student Factor” and No. 3 position for “Best Ethnic Diversity” among all Regional Universities in the South.

This is the 35th year that U.S. News & World Report has released its Best Colleges Rankings. To determine a school’s overall score, the organization compares higher education institutions on 15 diverse measures of academic quality. These include graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student excellence and alumni giving.
