Acknowledgements

Who Should Be Acknowledged?

Individuals, funding agencies, and organizations contributing substantially to the successful execution of published research should be mentioned in the acknowledgements section. This includes individuals who assisted with the compilation of a research manuscript, but who did not meet the full ICMJE criteria for authorship. Authors should also acknowledge the following:

  • Any agency, including MU, who provided funds supporting the work;
  • Core facilities or specific resources, if acknowledgment is recommended;
  • Tools, code, or other resources, if acknowledgement is recommended;
  • Individuals with whom you had important discussions or who provided advice that substantially affected the outcome of the research.

Recommended Language for Acknowledging MU

Marymount University:

“This research was supported by Marymount University [and the Department/School/Center/Core] through institutional resources and the commitment of its faculty and staff to advancing scholarship.”

OR

“This research was supported in part by resources provided by Marymount University’s [Department/School/Center/Core]”

ORDES:

“The authors thank [optional: name of staff member and the] Office of Research Development, Education, and Support (ORDES) at Marymount University for providing [editing/feedback/proofreading/formatting] assistance on this manuscript.”
