Chi Sigma Iota – International Counseling Honor Society
MU UPSILON GAMMA CHAPTER – MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY
Chi Sigma Iota is an international honor society that values academic and professional excellence in counseling. Members of Chi Sigma Iota are students, professional counselors, and counselor educators.
Mission: The mission is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership, advocacy, service, and excellence in counseling and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the profession of counseling.
CSI at Marymount: The Mu Upsilon Gamma Chapter at Marymount University was established in 1997. We invite students to apply every spring semester and hold a mandatory initiation ceremony.

Be a Clinical Mental Health Counseling or Pastoral Clinical Mental Health Counseling Student |
Have completed at least 9 credits in the program |
Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale) |
Gain endorsement from a Marymount University faculty member |
Mu Upsilon Gamma Chapter of CSI sponsors many educational, service, and social activities regularly. In the past, they have sponsored a variety of educational seminars focusing on counseling skills and issues. Some recent service activities have included collecting donations for the Salvation Army Angel Tree initiative, Care Bags for Cancer patients, creating Thanksgiving baskets for the local community, and partnering with Virginia Hospital Center for their annual cervical cancer screening event.

In December, CSI was excited to see that all 20 of the angels were able to receive the gifts that they wished for. It is always so rewarding to be able to give to others during the holidays.
On October 22, 2022, CSI participated in the Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk at the Lincoln Memorial. The community came together for remembrance, hope, and support for those affected by suicide.
The chapter was able to raise $595 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. These funds will be used to continue research into suicide prevention, create and distribute education programs, advocate for public policy, and support those affected by suicide.
On March 25, 2022, CSI held an induction ceremony, welcoming new members to the MU Upsilon Gamma Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota.
The Out of the Darkness walk on April 9th, 2022. The Mu Epsilon Gamma Chapter raised $1,540 in support of suicide prevention and awareness. The chapter walked in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and its mission to save lives and bring hope.
2022 Dewberry Cancer Resource Center‘s Annual Cancer Survivors Day Celebration at Virginia Hospital Center.
CSI and students from the School of Counseling volunteered on September 25, 2021, at Virginia Hospital Center’s annual cervical cancer screening event. This year they assisted over 80 patients.
