Virtual Matter of Balance Class

The Virtual Matter of Balance falls prevention program is an evidence-based cognitive restructuring program that meets for 2 hours a week for 9 weeks.  We focus on how we view falling, our fears of falling, and strategies for preventing a fall and invite participation in gentle exercises.

Enrollment in the Virtual Matter of Balance program requires a 9-week commitment and participation with your device camera on.

The Matter of Balance program will run from Monday, February 20 to Monday, April 24, from 3 pm to 5 pm.  

There is no class Monday, March 13.

The largest multidisciplinary research organization in the aging arena, the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), is currently accepting research abstracts for its 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting that will be held in Tampa, Florida from November 8 – 12 (https://www.gsa2023.org). You are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity for sharing your new scholarship with the meeting’s nearly 4,000 attendees. The deadline for submitting abstracts is March 9th, and you don’t need to be a GSA member to submit an abstract.

Second Annual Biomarker & Biometrics Blitz Review!

Learning Objectives:

    • Upon completion, participants will be able to list and describe several different types of biomarkers that have been and can be used in combination for increased precision of measurement in ABI and TBI research.
    • Upon completion participants will be able to discuss and describe several domains of brain injury research with enhanced findings when using multimodal biomarkers.
    • Upon completion, participants will be able to discuss key preliminary findings of a scoping review of multimodal biomarkers in use with TBI and ABI research.
    • Upon completion, participants will be able to describe information and potential research foci from a case series looking at symptoms and outcomes of Long-COVID patients with ADHD/concussion/TBI/substance misuse history
