Congratulations to Dr. Patricia C. Heyn, for being awarded 2022, Career Development Networking Group Outstanding Mentor by the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. The Career Development Outstanding Mentor Award was established in 2016 to honor those who have significantly contributed through mentorship to the development of early career rehabilitation professionals, the Early Career Development Course, and the Career Development Networking Group’s Mentoring Task Force.

Patricia C. Heyn, the founding Director of Marymount University’s Center for Optimal Aging, has achieved national recognition through the recently announced annual awards from the Gerontological Society of America (GSA).  Click here to find the news!

Dr. Julie Ries is traveling to Svendborg Denmark as a course instructor for Danish physiotherapists on the topic of optimal rehabilitation management of individuals with dementia. The 3-day course (August 31-September 2 2022) is sponsored by the Danish Physiotherapy Association in collaboration with the Danish Society for Gerontology & Geriatrics. This will be Julie’s second opportunity to work with Danish colleagues–she was in Odense Denmark in 2019 as a course instructor. Julie will team with 3 Danish clinicians and researchers to present and discuss the most recent evidence on successful rehabilitation with individuals with dementia and work with physiotherapists on understanding how to best integrate research findings into clinical practice.
