The Interior Design department and Office of Undergraduate Admissions are committed to making your transfer to Marymount as smooth as possible.
The following course articulations are for undergraduate students transferring Interior Design coursework towards the Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design.
The Interior Design department will consider transfer credit from Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), Montgomery College (MC), and other accredited institutions of higher education based on Transfer Policies in the current Undergraduate Catalog.

About our Placement Portfolio
The interior design placement portfolio helps us assess your ability to succeed in interior design courses at Marymount University. If you are transferring interior design coursework from another institution, you may need to submit a portfolio.

Digital Portfolios

- Once you have uploaded your portfolio, contact Prof. Doug Seidler for a transfer advising appointment.
Physical Portfolios
- If you are unable to submit a physical portfolio, contact Prof. Doug Seidler for a transfer advising appointment where you can bring your physical portfolio for review and evaluation.
Portfolio Deadlines
Students seeking transfer credit for interior design courses should review the following deadlines. Portfolio instructions are included in the FAQ at the bottom of this page.

Placement Portfolio Requirements by Course
The following courses are eligible for transfer from two-year and four-year institutions. Information about minimum grades and portfolio skills are provided for each course.

Portfolio: Contains work that demonstrates understanding of foundation design principles or design in a non-residential practice area. Projects must include design process work through final presentation drawings or models.

Portfolio: Contains work that demonstrates understanding of hand drafting techniques to create architectural drawings. (e.g. plan, elevation, RCP, perspective, isometric, and axonometric drawings)

ID-122 Sketching and Rendering for Ideas |
Portfolio: Contains work that demonstrates understanding of hand rendering techniques in architectural drawings. (e.g. plan, elevation, RCP, perspectives, isometric, and axonometric drawings)

Portfolio: Contains work that demonstrates understanding of Revit to create architectural presentation drawings. (e.g. plan, elevation, RCP, perspective, and photorealistic rendering). Digital presentation skills are also evaluated with a preference for Adobe InDesign and Illustrator as layout tools.
