MU 101 Course

This class is designed to introduce new first year students to Marymount University and to learning in higher education. MU-101 will help you to begin to develop the skills and abilities to succeed in your first semester courses, which are the foundation for you to proceed through your major. You’ll also discover the resources available to you as a student at Marymount. MU-101 will help improve your understanding of the intellectual, emotional and social challenges of university life and apply this knowledge to yourself.

Through participation in a variety of activities, with the support of your instructor and classmates, we hope to help sharpen your academic skills and ease your transition from high school to college.

  • Demonstrate personal development in adjusting to college life. (You’ll make friends, find your way around, and think about your goals.)
  • Display growth in academic and personal responsibility. (You’ll meet temptation and make decisions about getting work done on time.)
  • Identify university resources supporting academic and personal needs. (You’ll learn about the Academic Hub and many other sources of support.)
  • Experience community engagement outside the classroom with faculty and peers. (You’ll eat, play, and work with other Marymount people.)
  • Assess career interests and skills and use the results to reflect on personal career goals.
