Academic Advising
At Marymount, students are assigned an Academic Advisor based on major. Each is an expert in university policies, and they are specialists in majors and university degree requirements. This student-centered partnership involves collaboration between advisor and student, that fosters student success. Advisors will share information and resources; elicit discussion regarding majors, courses, and scheduling options; and guide students in decision making and problem solving. Every semester, advisors will review each student’s course plan in MY MU Plan before students can register online for the upcoming semester. Peer Tutoring
Peer tutoring is a free service that pairs students with a qualified student tutor. Peer tutoring covers both course content, as well as writing assistance. Tutors are committed to providing the best assistance possible. All peer tutors have passed the courses they tutor, and have gone through a semester-long training course. Academic Coaching
Academic coaching is a one-on-one process of helping students identify their strengths, challenges, and goals, then constructing a personalized plan to success. All students are welcome to schedule an appointment with your coach. Coaches will discuss learning and study strategies such as notetaking, time management, motivation, test-taking, and more. Together, students and coaches can work on things like presentation skills, personal development (stress, concentration), and tracking semesterly progress. Library and Learning Services
Library and Learning Services is excited to support students in their academic pursuits. The following is a brief description of some of the services available; please click here for additional information. We look forward to seeing your student in the libraries and getting to know your student as they progress in their studies at Marymount!
Librarians
We are here for the students! We are specialist liaisons available for individual research help in person, by phone, email, and online chat. Want to know who your student’s librarian is? Click here!
Resources
We’ve built a diverse collection to meet your student’s needs. For resources that your student needs, but we don’t have – we can borrow materials from other schools in the Washington Research Library Consortium or through our normal interlibrary loan service – all at no additional cost to the student.
Reserves
We have textbook reserves and course reserves. The library has a copy of most required textbooks that students can borrow. We also have course reserves of supplemental materials professors want their students to have access to. Both of these reserves help students save money and allow equal access to materials.
Technology & “Fun” Resources
We have laptops, iPads, graphing calculators, headphones, powerstrips, hdmi cables, and more, all available for check-out. We also circulate things like dry erase markers and even board games!
