8 Dimensions of Wellness
Here at Marymount, Saints care about their health and wellness. Wellness is defined as a facet of health that goes beyond the absence of disease. Another way to think about it, is that wellness refers to a positive state (being well) and illness refers to a negative state (being ill). Wellness is inclusive, self-directed, and on-going.
What Are the 8 Dimensions of Wellness?
The dimensions of wellness are emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, environmental, financial, occupational, and social. Attaining all 8 dimensions of wellness reflects a balanced wellness, as these dimensions are mutually codependent, or interdependent as they impact holistic harmony within body, mind, and spirit.
The 8 dimensions of wellness can serve as a guide for living a positive lifestyle where you can truly thrive. Think about your wellness needs and goals as you aim to create a balance between the dimensions that resonate with you the most.
