Jen Brown has over 27 years of experience as an elementary educator and serves as an Educational Specialist for Elementary Social Studies in Fairfax County Public Schools. Jen has served as a teacher intern supervisor at the University of Virginia Curry School of Education and has been a consultant with the Virginia Department of Education, serving on various curriculum, assessment, and professional development committees. Jen is a dedicated, innovative educator who believes that by leveraging shared expertise through collaboration, professional learning, and research-based practices, she can make a difference in designing a social studies curriculum that empowers teachers and elevates student voices through inquiry and authentic, meaningful learning experiences. She is passionate about building teacher capacity through professional learning and believes all students can and should engage in the critical thinking skills needed to be informed, active, empathetic, and positive contributors to their local, state, national, and global communities. Jen lives in Alexandria and is an avid reader, coffee drinker, beach lover, and cat mom!
