Did you feel that Marymount prepared you well for this internship?

Marymount helped me develop the soft skills needed to work in the professional world. Through participating in the Women’s Volleyball team and group projects I learned how to work in a team, which proved invaluable during my internship. I was always able and willing to collaborate with other managers and interns to help create something great. I also learned how to be confident in myself and my ideas — even though I’m new to the professional world, I still have great ideas to contribute.

What was the highlight of your internship?

The highlight was designing the conference championship hats. My manager came to the team with a design for the hats and ideas on how to improve it. Rather than stay quiet, I had the confidence to speak up and share my idea for a new design. My boss liked my new concept so much, she ended up using it! Knowing that I contributed to something that these athletes will cherish forever is so incredible, and its all thanks to the collaborative and empowering education I received at Marymount.

What are your plans for the future?

I learned a lot about marketing through my internship and I think I’m pretty good at it, so I will continue seeking positions involving marketing and social media. I’d like to work for one of the big D.C. teams like the Washington Commanders, Nationals or D.C. United. My internship experience with AEC gives me a leg up as I already know some of the inner workings of the conference system. I’m hopeful through the Marymount alumni network, I can get connected to my next position and eventually work my way up to one of those dream positions with a D.C. sports organization. I’m super excited and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
