Authorization to Pursue External Funding
Marymount University’s “Request for University Support to Pursue External Funding” should be completed during the consultation process with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). Completion of the “Request for University Support to Pursue External Funding” form enables the Principal Investigator (PI) or Project Director to provide a brief description of the proposed project and initiate a discussion of requisite research, project, and university resources.
The submission of a “Request for University Support to Pursue External Funding” form with the School’s or Department-level administrators’ signatures places your proposal in the OSP’s queue, formally. The request indicates to the OSP that the faculty member, who will lead the preparation of the proposal, has discussed the planned proposal, gained support from the appropriate administrator(s), and is responding to a specific deadline. A copy of the funding announcement or a link to the referenced announcement should accompany each request.
The Principal Investigator (PI) or Project Director (PD) is considered the official contact person when initiating communications with the Office of Sponsored Programs relative to preparing and managing an externally-funded project.
