University Librarian Alison Gregory elected as Divisional Vice President of Phi Kappa Phi

Following her instrumental role in chartering and growing Marymount University’s chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, University Librarian Alison Gregory will now assume a national leadership position within the organization as a Divisional Vice President.
 
Gregory was elected to support the mission of the honor society by leading Phi Kappa Phi’s Division V in a two-year term from 2020 to 2022. Her ties with the Society go back to 1997 when she was initiated as a student at Lycoming College, where she later also served as chapter president. Recently, she has served as the inaugural president of Marymount’s chapter.
 
“I am honored to have been nominated and elected to serve as the Phi Kappa Phi Divisional Vice President for Division V, representing and supporting the development of chapters at baccalaureate institutions, HBCU’s, health science centers and military service academies,” Gregory said. “My Society experiences with smaller chapters began when I was inducted as an undergraduate student at a small baccalaureate institution, and I have served in various chapter officer capacities at smaller institutions. I look forward to assisting with the chapter development and growth, and to contributing to the overall advancement of Phi Kappa Phi.”
 
Gregory holds a B.A. in History from Lycoming, and a M.S. in Library Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
 
She is currently completing a master’s program at Marymount in Leadership and Management. In addition to her responsibilities as University Librarian, Gregory also serves as an Associate Professor of Library & Learning Services and is a member of the Provost’s Council and the President’s extended cabinet.
 
Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for academic disciplines, which inducts approximately 30,000 students, faculty and professional staff annually. There are more than 300 select colleges and universities in the U.S. and the Philippines that have Society chapters.
 
Membership is by invitation only to the top 10 percent of senior and graduate students, and 7.5 percent of juniors. Professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction also qualify to be invited into membership.
