Two longtime Marymount University employees, Aline Orfali, director of International Student Services, and Hazel Sirett, an administrative assistant in the School of Arts & Sciences, were among six employees honored with Staff Council Awards at a luncheon on campus on Aug. 18.
Orfali, who has been with Marymount for 20 years, earned a Common Ground Values Award.
Her work and leadership has been crucial to the retention and well-being of our international students, and this makes every classroom and space at Marymount a place of intercultural encounter and global perspective, a colleague wrote in nominating her for the award.
In addition to her current position, Orfali has served as assistant director of International Student Services, and assistant director and foreign student advisor in the Counseling Center.
Sirett, a 12-year employee, earned a Going the Extra Mile Award. Her nominator said she goes the extra mile in everything she does.
She maintains a positive attitude and fosters it among the office staff, and shes just a joy to work with, the nominator added. She is a dedicated and committed Marymount colleague, and we are so very lucky to have her on our team.
In addition to her current role, Sirett has served as a Learning Resource Center assistant and its administrative secretary.
