Sr. Patricia Helene Earl releases new book, “Building the Builders”

Sr. Patricia Helene Earl, IHM, Ph.D., Professor of Education and Director of the Catholic School Leadership Program at Marymount, is releasing a new book. “Building the Builders: Faith Formation in Prayer, A Journey with Jesus through Mary” is being published by the National Catholic Educational Association.

“I hope that those reading this book will come to a deeper appreciation of the importance of prayer in coming to know Jesus, especially through reading, reflecting and meditating on Scripture,” Sr. Patricia said.

The book is designed to be used as a springboard for one’s own personal prayer with each chapter containing a Scripture passage, Sr. Patricia’s reflection and questions for the reader to consider and ponder. The book can be used as a tool to teach others, both adults and students. For example, in the introduction of the book, suggestions are offered on how to pray with Scripture, and the closing chapter offers supplemental activities.

Throughout the book, Sr. Patricia shares her thoughts and reflections on various Gospel passages that are aligned with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, but aren’t written as an academic biblical study.

“They are the fruit of my own prayer, and I hope it will open the door to a deeper and richer relationship with Christ,” Sr. Patricia shared.
