Marymount University Women’s Lacrosse student-athlete Taylor Chepren has been named to the 2024-25 Allstate NACDA Good Works Team. She is one of just 20 spring student-athletes from across NCAA Divisions I, II and III and the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) to be honored with this recognition.
“Being named to the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team is an honor,” Chepren said. “It means so much to be recognized not just for what we do in competition, but for our impact in the community.”
The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team is an expansion of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, which has celebrated college football players’ good work off the field since 1992. With this program’s creation, 60 more student-athletes across all sports and divisions will be honored annually for their leadership, service and character, per the organization.
Chepren is a standout on the Women’s Lacrosse team who has garnered multiple accolades, including 2022 Atlantic East Rookie of the Year and 2024 Atlantic East All-Conference. She also dedicates time within the Athletics department as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), which provides student-athlete support for all intercollegiate athletics programs at the University.
“Taylor exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete—demonstrating discipline, teamwork and dedication both on and off the field,” said Marymount Women’s Lacrosse head coach Kate Athing. “Her contributions to the team, commitment to academic excellence and service to the community reflect her strong character and genuine drive to make a meaningful impact. Taylor is a true standout on all levels, and the impact she has made on our program, SAAC and the community will be felt long after her time at Marymount.”
In the classroom, Chepren is a three-time member of the Atlantic East All-Academic Team. Off the field and away from her studies, she dedicates her time to service. Volunteering many hours at Woodbury Park, a local affordable housing community, she works with at-risk youth in their after-school program, serving as an invaluable part of their literacy program.
Chepren also plays an instrumental role in holiday-oriented service events. During Thanksgiving, she finds herself preparing, serving and cleaning up the community meal for over 300 residents at Woodbury Park. In December, she assists with the community’s Christmas tree delivery.
“One thing Coach Athing said that has stuck with me is that ‘true service is consistency,’ and I couldn’t agree more,” Chepren explained. “Balancing academics, athletics and service isn’t always easy, but it’s something I take pride in because I believe in leaving every place and person better than I found them.”
In addition to Woodbury Park, Chepren also volunteers with the Boldly Gold Pediatric Cancer Foundation 5K, which raises awareness for families with children in local hospitals.
Marymount Women’s Lacrosse consistently supports the One Love Foundation, a national nonprofit aiming to end relationship abuse, and Morgan’s Message, an organization striving to end mental health stigma among student-athletes. Chepren plays a pivotal role in leading those efforts at the team level.
“I’m driven by the idea that being a student-athlete is about more than the wins and losses. It’s about using the platform and opportunities we have to lift others,” Chepren said. “It genuinely makes me feel good to see how much of a difference I can make—whether it’s working weekly with the kids I tutor, or supporting the athletes at our Special Olympics tournament over the past four years. In many ways, they serve me too by bringing so much joy and perspective into my life.”
“Taylor’s selection to the Allstate Good Works Team is a testament to her exceptional dedication to community service, athletic achievement and academic excellence,” said Jill McCabe, Vice President for Athletics and Student Life at Marymount University. “Taylor exemplifies the true spirit of leadership and giving back, and has raised the bar for Marymount Athletics to achieve greatness both on and off the field.”
