Marymount President named to Washington Business Journal’s annual Power 100 List

In its annual Power 100 List of the most influential local leaders in the national capital region, the Washington Business Journal (WBJ) has recognized the President of Marymount University, Dr. Irma Becerra, as part of the List’s Class of 2019.

In the article, WBJ said Dr. Becerra “has made a name for herself in barely a year at the top of Marymount University” while aiming to build more business ties with the community and double enrollment over a five-year period. It also mentions Dr. Becerra’s plans to launch new degree programs and expand Marymount’s physical footprint.

This accolade comes just weeks after the same media outlet named Dr. Becerra as an honoree for its 2019 “Women Who Mean Business” awards program.

“This recognition brings great prestige to not only Dr. Becerra but to Marymount as a whole,” said Carmen Brown of Marymount’s Marketing and Communications team. “Our appreciation goes out to our President for her vision, determination and strong community outreach that she has displayed over the course of her short tenure so far.”
