Marymount Named ‘Best for Vets’

Marymount University continues to earn praise for the support it provides veteran and military students. Today, Military Times awarded the school its prestigious “Best for Vets” designation as part of its 2016 rankings of colleges.

“We award the Best for Vets designation to the very best – the colleges that really are setting the example,” said Amanda Miller, editor of the Military Times’ Best for Vets rankings and special editions.

In its sixth year, the rankings factor in the results of the magazine’s annual survey, a comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and rates of academic achievement. Marymount is No. 124 in the “Best for Vets: Colleges 2016” rankings. More than 600 colleges took part.

“We’re always proud to receive this distinction, which reinforces our commitment to both those who have served in America’s armed forces and their families,” said Marymount President Matthew D. Shank. “Serving the nation’s veterans, who have so ably served us, is something we take very seriously.”

The recognition comes on the heels of Marymount being named both a military-friendly school for the sixth straight year by GI Jobs Magazine and a Top School in Military Advanced Education’s “2016 MAE Guide to Colleges & Universities.” Additionally, MU’s School of Business Administration is a Military Times “Best for Vets” Business School.

The Marymount University Military & Veteran Student Services, headed by Joe Blount, is located in Gerard Hall, Room 1017, on Marymount’s main campus at 2807 N. Glebe Rd. For more information about services available at Marymount for veterans and their dependents, call 703-284-1521 or email.

Marymount will be showcased along with the other “Best for Vets” schools in the Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times on newsstands this week; online at ArmyTimes.com, NavyTimes.com, AirForceTimes.com and MarineCorpsTimes.com; and at MilitaryTimes.com, where the full list can be viewed.
