On Sunday, the Marymount University community gathered virtually to honor the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. through a MLK prayer service, “A Journey Towards Healing: Where Do We Go From Here?”

The event, sponsored by the Office of Ministry and Spiritual Life and the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, was streamed live on the University’s YouTube channel.

President Irma Becerra opened the event with remarks, followed by excerpts and audio from Dr. King’s ever-relevant speech, “Where Do We Go From Here?” The service also featured a moving performance of “Precious Lord” by Jordan Stewart, Spiritual Artist in Residence at Howard University’s Wesley Foundation, and a reflective sermon from Episcopal priest Charles Graves IV of Houston Canterbury.

Student, faculty and staff voices came together to honor Dr. King’s legacy by continuing his call to action.
