Marymount achieves highest-ever national ranking from U.S. News & World Report

In the latest Best Colleges Rankings from U.S. News & World Report, Marymount University has reached its highest national ranking as it continues to rise in prestige among the country’s top higher education institutions. With an increase of 32 spots to No. 288 in the nation, Marymount is now notably listed second among all of Virginia’s private universities.

Marymount also made significant strides in key categories, jumping 39 spots in Top Performers on Social Mobility and improving by 10 spots in Undergraduate Nursing Programs. Marymount’s Nursing B.S.N. remains a standout offering, tied for No. 1 among all Virginia private institutions and No. 4 among colleges and universities in the DMV region.

Additionally, Marymount was listed at No. 41 in Campus Ethnic Diversity, topping all other private institutions in Virginia and the DMV area. For Most International Students, Marymount rose nine spots to No. 26 nationally – higher than any other college or university in Virginia, and second among institutions in the DMV.

These achievements highlight Marymount’s ongoing commitment to providing a high-quality education rooted in the values of intellectual curiosity, service to others and fostering a global perspective. Strong outcomes for Pell Grant recipients, a low student-faculty ratio of 11:1 and a growing, diverse student body have all contributed to the University’s rankings.

“We are incredibly proud of the momentum that Marymount continues to build in the national landscape of higher education,” said Dr. Irma Becerra, President of Marymount University. “These rankings reflect the dedication of our faculty and staff and our focus on offering an education that transforms lives, empowers students from all backgrounds and equips them to excel in their careers and communities. It’s gratifying to see the hard work and strategic investments we’ve made pay off with these accomplishments.”

Scores from U.S. News & World Report are determined through several weighted key measures of quality that consist of graduation and retention rates, peer assessment, faculty resources, graduation rate performance, financial resources and more. Social mobility, part of U.S. News’ outcomes measures, assesses how well schools graduate economically disadvantaged students based on graduation rates of Pell Grant recipients. Rankings of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs are based solely on peer assessment surveys completed by deans and senior faculty members of nursing schools and departments around the country.
