Dr. Christine Nemacheck, the Wilson & Martha Claiborne associate professor of government at the College of William & Mary, will deliver the lecture “The Ninth Justice: Garland, Gorsuch, and the Next Nominee” at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19 in Reinsch Auditorium on the campus of Marymount University, 2807 North Glebe Road.
The lecture is free, open to the public and will be followed by a question-and-answer session. It builds on more than 20 years of Dr. Nemacheck’s research for which she reviewed the personal notes of every president from Herbert Hoover through George W. Bush, examining how they vetted and ultimately selected potential Supreme Court nominees. She has published a book, “Strategic Selection,” based on this research, in addition to numerous journal articles and books chapters. She also co-authored “Government by the People,” an introductory American politics textbooks.
Nemacheck received her Ph.D. from The George Washington University, her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, and is associate chair of the Department of Government at William & Mary.
