Learning about the Sanctuary Movement through Literature

The U.S. is dealing with an immigration crisis in the present day, but we’re not too far removed from a very similar situation that occurred in the 1980’s. Dr. Leigh Johnson joins us to talk about the Sanctuary Movement, immigration policies and more.

The Sanctuary Movement was a religious and political campaign that sought to provide safe haven for Central American refugees fleeing civil conflict. Dr. Johnson also talks about how the movement affected literature, and vice versa.
