More than 400 students who are first-time arrivals at Marymount University for the 2018-19 school year are being welcomed to campus, representing 27 states and 21 countries, university officials announced.

Move-in day for incoming students was set for Aug. 22, with students and their families being welcomed with a special dinner. Move-in for returning students was slated for Aug. 25-26.

According to university officials:

• A total of 69 percent of the new students are female, 31 percent male.

• Nine percent of new students are from outside the U.S.

• Among American students, 52 percent come from Virginia, 18 percent from Maryland, nine percent from the District of Columbia and 21 percent from other states.

The new students have something in common with Irma Becerra, who herself is new to Marymount, having arrived as president in July.
