Dr. Marianne Ward-Peradoza, a longtime faculty member and administrator at Loyola University Maryland, has been named dean of Marymount University’s School of Business Administration. She will begin her duties July 1.
“I am honored to have been selected,” Ward-Peradoza said. “Over the course of my career I have developed a deep commitment to the mission of Catholic higher education with a specific focus on critical and creative thinking, lifelong learning, service to others and global engagement.”
During her 16 years at Loyola, Ward-Peradoza has served in many leadership roles. She has been Associate Dean – Academic for the Sellinger School of Business and Management since 2014. Prior to that, she chaired the Department of Economics. She has also served as director of the Global Studies Program involving the School of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences.
“We are thrilled that Dr. Ward-Peradoza has accepted our offer to join the Marymount family,” said President Matthew Shank. “She brings an understanding of Catholic education, a global perspective and a wealth of other administrative experience. With our new Ballston Center near completion, we will have world class facilities for our School of Business Administration, and Marianne is the right person to move our academic programs and reputation forward.”
She assumes leadership of the School of Business Administration from longtime Dean James Ryerson, who has elected to return to the classroom.
“I am excited to collaborate with the faculty, staff, students and administrators at Marymount University to continue to offer undergraduate and graduate programs that meet the needs of our students, industry and society at large,” Ward-Peradoza said.
“The opportunity for students to study business in the Washington D.C./Northern Virginia region provides a lens through which to understand the interaction between business and society that is incomparable,” she said. “These strengths, combined with the opening of the new school of business facility, make it an extremely exciting time at Marymount University.”
Ward-Peradoza earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Miami and a bachelor’s in International Studies/Economics from American University. She has experience in curriculum development and reform, strategic planning, fundraising and faculty hiring and development.
