Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree equips you with the knowledge and expertise to become a highly skilled health care professional. Your Nursing courses will introduce you to evidence-based practices and various nursing processes. In addition, your hands-on laboratory and clinical experiences will allow you to develop competencies in caring for patients across the life cycle.

Three ways to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Marymount’s Nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on College Nursing Education and approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing. We offer three Nursing programs to help you pursue your BSN:
- A traditional, four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree .
- An accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree for individuals who hold a four-year degree in another field. This Nursing major can be completed in 16 months as a full-time student or 24 months as a part-time student.
No matter which program you choose, you’ll become a well-prepared nurse who can lead within our diverse health care landscape.

Rich clinical and hands-on experiences
You’ll gain vital knowledge and put it to work in long-term care, medical-surgery, pediatrics, OB-GYN, and community health settings. You’ll also have the chance to take on an internship, which provides you with advanced expertise in a chosen area of specialization and prepares you for your nursing career. Our students have recently interned at Virginia Hospital Center, the Arlington Free Clinic, Washington Hospital Center, and more.

Marymount faculty are deeply invested in nurturing the academic and professional growth of every student. They’ve worked in countless health care facilities, led groups such as the American Nurses Association, and advanced research in areas such as pediatric nursing, prenatal care, and post-traumatic disorders. Preparation to pass certification exams
Students in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs have a first-time pass rate for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) that is greater than 90% for the past five years—which is consistently higher than state and national averages.
Scholarship opportunities for Nursing majors
At Marymount, you can move your career forward at a more affordable rate. We offer various scholarships for undergraduate students in our Nursing program, including a 10% Nursing Workforce Scholarship for our accelerated program.
What Can You Do With a Nursing Degree?
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are nearly 200,000 annual job openings for registered nurses across the U.S.
There continues to be a growing need for nurses at all levels, and when you graduate from Marymount, you’ll be prepared to enter this dynamic field and excel. Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates take on careers in:

- Home health agencies
- Hospitals such as Children’s National Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital, Inova, Sibley Memorial Hospital, and more

Some of our graduates continue on and enroll in one of our seven advanced Nursing degrees and certificates to pursue careers as nurse practitioners, nurse educators, or nurse scientists.
What Will You Study in Nursing?
After taking foundational coursework that hones your critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills, you’ll take up to 16 Bachelor of Science in Nursing courses that set you up for career success. You can expect to take coursework in:

- Principles and Applications of Fundamental Nursing Technology
- Promoting Health Across the Lifespan
Our coursework is designed to provide active experiential learning through state-of-the-art simulation labs and exceptional clinical placements across a range of specialties in Maryland, Virginia, and the Washington, D.C., area. During your final semester within the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, you’ll complete an internship where you’ll gain added expertise in a clinical setting.
