Summer Faculty-Student Research Opportunities

Discover Faculty Research 2020

Faculty-Student Collaborative Summer Research Project Competition

Consider mentoring a student this summer in a research project of mutual interest to you and the student. Faculty mentors receive a $1,000 stipend. Each student receives a $1,500 stipend plus, for a limited number of students, on-campus housing during the fellowship. This 6.5 week fellowship begins May 18, 2020 and ends June 30, 2020.

This Fellowship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.  New this year: Weekly community building, educational, and information sharing sessions for student fellows have been added to the fellowship experience.  This is the reason we are requesting all fellowships occur during the same 6.5 week time period.

Step 1:  Create or Update your Summer 2020 Research Interest Profile.  Any faculty member interested in creating a summer research interest profile, or wanting to update last year’s summer research project profile, should complete google form accessed from the myMarymount portal, under Offices/resources and then ‘Office of Sponsored Programs’.

Step 2: Beginning on March 16, 2020, these faculty profiles will be posted on the Discover Web page under Discover summer research, 2020. Students seeking summer research opportunities will be directed to the Discover site to identify potential projects and faculty research mentors. The site will continue to be updated weekly through March 30.

Step 3: The joint student-faculty application form will open March 23, 2020 and close April 20, 2020. Students will be informed of the summer opportunity and encouraged to discuss potential opportunities with faculty. The deadline for submission of faculty-student collaborative projects will be April 20, 2020.

Step 4: Award decisions will be finalized by April 24, 2020.
