Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Any research using artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) now requires IRB review, regardless of human subject involvement. Most AI/ML projects may qualify for exemption, but review is mandatory (see sections 1.2 and 7.10 of the IRB manual).
