Permissions and Copyright Policy

Materials reproduced for researchers by Marymount University Archives are provided for private study, scholarship or research under the fair use provision of the law (17 U.S.C. § 107). Any use other than private study, scholarship or research may be subject to copyright restrictions.

Researchers should be aware that many items in the University Archives are still under copyright.  Marymount University Archives claims only physical ownership of most of the materials. Researchers are solely responsible for securing any necessary permission from copyright holders if they wish to publish, exhibit, perform, broadcast, post online, or otherwise make the materials available.

Payment and Delivery

Marymount University Archives will provide an invoice for orders. Standard turnaround time for orders is one week, though this may vary depending on the size and complexity of the order.  We do not offer rush service. It is possible that a small scan or photocopy order may be able to be completed while you wait; however, this is subject to staff availability and cannot be guaranteed.

Fee Schedule for Reproduction Services

  • PDF: $0.25/page; first 10 pages are free
  • High-Quality Scans: Flatbed (up to 12″x17″): $5.00/scan
  • Other: $15.00/hour of staff time
  • There is a 50 page limit for reproduction requests*
