Speech-Language Pathology Early Assurance Program

Marymount University’s Speech-Language Pathology Early Assurance Program (SLP-EAP) is designed for undergraduate students who are committed to becoming speech-language pathologists and who seek a clear, supportive, and values-driven pathway into graduate education.

This program recognizes students’ dedication early, reduces uncertainty in the graduate admissions process, and reflects Marymount’s commitment to access, belonging, and preparing compassionate clinicians who serve diverse communities with skill and humility.

Program Overview

The SLP-EAP offers eligible undergraduate students guaranteed admission to Marymount University’s Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program, contingent upon successful completion of program requirements.

Applications are reviewed holistically, with attention to academic preparation, professional readiness, and alignment with Marymount’s mission-centered, justice-oriented approach to speech-language pathology.

Rolling Admissions

Students may apply at any point during their undergraduate program.

Eligibility

  • Students enrolled in the Pre-Speech-Language Pathology Health Sciences track
    or
  • Students pursuing the Speech-Language Pathology Minor

Application Requirements

Applicants will be asked to:

  • Respond to a reflective essay prompt
  • Submit a current résumé
  • Participate in an interview with Speech-Language Pathology faculty

The interview process is designed to be conversational and supportive, offering space for students to share their goals, experiences, and interests in the field.

Requirements to Maintain Guaranteed Admission

Students admitted to the SLP-EAP must meet the following criteria to secure their place in the graduate program:

Academic Completion

  • Earn a bachelor’s degree from Marymount University in good academic standing
  • Achieve a minimum 3.0 GPA in the final 60 undergraduate credits

General Education Prerequisites (C or better required)

  • Biology
  • Chemistry or Physics
  • Psychology
  • Statistics

Speech-Language Pathology Coursework (B or better required)

  • SLP 201
  • SLP 301
  • SLP 302
  • SLP 401

Faculty Support

  • Submit two letters of support from Health Sciences faculty confirming readiness for graduate study and identifying no concerns

Graduate Enrollment Timeline

Students who successfully complete all Early Assurance requirements may enroll in the graduate Speech-Language Pathology program immediately following undergraduate graduation.

Students may also choose to take time away before beginning graduate study; however, enrollment must occur within two years of completing the bachelor’s degree.
