Financial Services at Marymount

There is much to navigate as students begin their journey at Marymount including how to fund their education. The offices of Financial Aid and Student Accounts, and the Center for Career Services provide support to students and families in helping them navigate the financial process. This includes resources on financial literacy; Marymount payment plans; how to successfully fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (also known as the FAFSA); how to accept student loans; and how to find employment on campus.

These offices are here to help students get started at Marymount and will be here for through degree completion. The Office of Financial Aid will assist you with all things related to the FAFSA and loans to finance your education; Student Accounts will help you find the best method to pay for your education and answer any questions related to your student bill; and the Center for Career Services will connect you with opportunities to work on campus to earn income to help fund your education.

Financial Literacy

Financial literacy can be defined as having knowledge about concepts managing money and using that information to make personal financial decisions. Developing financial literacy allows students to manage their finances; understand student loans, scholarships, and grants; and help them make the best financial decisions possible given their unique financial situation. Students will learn more about the basic concepts of financial literacy in the DSC 201 this fall, and Student Accounts and Financial Aid are available for additional questions and support.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is the form that studets should fill out to request federal financial aid to help pay for college. Marymount, like many other colleges and universitites, uses the FAFSA to help determine the type and amount of aid available to each student. It is important to remember: the FAFSA application opens on October 1, and students must submit a new application each year. Additionally, it is the student’s responsibility to update financial information that may change with the University as it may change the status of loans and grants.

Understanding the FAFSA Process

Financial Aid for Undergraduate Students

Marymount University offers a variety of scholarship opportunities to help freshman students meet the costs of their education. This includes scholarships, grants, loans, and student employment positions. Grants and scholarships are available to all students who qualify (according to the stipulations of each grant). Loans are a form of aid that needs to be repaid. Loans for higher education are generally offered at low interest rates and can be repaid over an extended period of time after the student leaves the institution. A completed FAFSA is required for consideration of scholarships, grants, and loans. For additional information, please click here.

Student Employment

Marymount students are eligible to work on campus while they are enrolled as either part-time or full-time students. This includes international students who hold an active F-1 visa and DACA students. Students who wish to work on campus are eligible to participate in one of our two student employment programs: Federal Work Study (FWS) or Campus Employment.

FWS is a government sponsored employment program which is funded through the Federal Government and Marymount and awarded to a student based on financial need. Financial need is determined by the cost to attend Marymount and a family’s estimated financial contribution to the cost to attend Marymount. FWS is a part of a student’s financial aid package. Campus Employment provides jobs on campus for students without a Federal Work Study award. Money earned in Campus Employment positions are fully funded through Marymount.
